Project Update – Base Slab Pour M6 Rockdale – Cut and Cover

FeaturedImage

Our team of concreters has recently undertaken what was the largest single surface area concrete pour the company has completed to date. While working on Transport for NSW’s M6 Stage 1 – Cut and Cover Base Slabs for the CPB Contractors Ghella and UGL JV, the team carried out a very impressive 1,040m2 pour to create the entry point to the newly-constructed M6 Stage 1 tunnels. The volume of concrete used to achieve this was 745m3. 2 x boom pumps were supplied by Vitale Concrete Pumping. 3 separate screeds were required, using a 55T crane to lift them off the pour as required. The pour took 11 hours through the night to complete with concrete being delivered and discharged at a rate of about 2.5T per minute for the duration. The shift involved a tremendous effort from 30 team members made up of concreters, formworkers, steel fixers, boom pump operators, traffic controllers, supervisors, and engineers. Quickway would like to acknowledge this mammoth achievement by our team and thank each of them for going above and beyond to deliver this extraordinary result.
