Remembering Bob Knight: A Tribute to Family and Legacy

On Friday, 26 September, a meaningful memorial was held on Milperra Road near Bankstown Golf Course to honour Bob Knight—a devoted friend, father, husband, and grandfather—whose life was tragically cut short at this location. Bob was the victim of a stray bullet in a senseless gang-related shooting – an innocent victim in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Quickway Constructions reinstated Bob’s handcrafted memorial cross, with a new cross made by the East Hills Men’s Shed, after it was temporarily and gracefully removed for infrastructure upgrades on Henry Lawson Drive.

The morning featured:

  • A smoking ceremony led by Darug Elders Uncle Wayne, Uncle Mick, Uncle Terry, and Uncle Dale
  • Speeches from Bob’s family, East Hills Men’s Shed representatives, and local MP Kylie Wilkinson

It was a warm and respectful tribute, attended by Bob’s family, fellow truckies, Aboriginal Elders and Quickway staff — celebrating his life, love, and legacy.
