National RAP Conference and Indigenous Governance Awards

Quickway have recently commenced working on our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The purpose of RAPs is to provide organisations with a structured approach to advance reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians. This framework of relationships, respect, and opportunities enables organisations to turn their good intentions into action and to support the national reconciliation movement.
In endorsement of this, last week members of our Community Team attended the annual National RAP Conference and Indigenous Governance Awards which were held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in Meanjin/Brisbane. The two-day event brought together representatives of the 3000+ organisations with Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) from all around Australia during this historic phase in Australia’s reconciliation journey.
We look forward to the next stage of the development of our Plan where our staff and local Dharug elders, Uncle Mick and Uncle Wayne, have formed a RAP Working Group. Our initial focus will be on educating our existing workforce (through cultural awareness and interaction, and history/story telling with the local aboriginal community) and on establishing relationships with Local Aboriginal Land Councils. Our Plan should be finalised and ready for assessment by Reconciliation Australia in early 2025.
