Permanent Way Institution NSW Awards Nights
The annual Permanent Way Institution NSW Awards Night was held at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney last Friday. For the first time in Quickway’s history, three of our Rail Welders made the shortlist of six nominees for the PWI Welders Award. The nominations were given to welders in the industry who have been exemplary leaders in their trade but also as leaders and mentors in the industry. All nominees demonstrated outstanding professionalism across safety, standards, as well as performing significant numbers of high-quality, defect-free rail welds in 2023. We acknowledge and celebrate the fantastic achievements of our crew.
Steve Kisina has been working with Quickway since 2018, and has carried out an impressive number of rail welds throughout the year – narrowly missing the top spot. Guy Rowles-Johnson was our second nominee; Guy has also been working with Quickway since 2018 and was the winner of last year’s PWI Welder Award. Our third nominee, and the ultimate winner of the 2023 PWI Welders Award, is Sione Tu’itakau. Sione has been leading our Rail Division as the Operations Manager since 2015 and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. This is the first time Sione has received the Award.
2023 was a very successful year for our Rail Division and Quickway would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their great efforts and recognise the collective achievement for the entire team.
