Project Update – Fixing Country Bridge Program

FeaturedImage

Quickway are contracted to Byron Shire Council to replace three rural bridges as part of the Fixing Country Bridge Program, which is a Design and Construct contract.

The works commenced in September at Englishes Bridge a Repentance Creek. This is a two span 26m bridge, with difficult access in a location without mobile or internet coverage. It has been a rough start to the project with two significant flood events destroying much of our temporary works on both occasions. The catchment is large and water levels rise quickly in stormy conditions. Water has risen to over 1.5m above the bridge level.

The crew led by Kevin Fitzpatrick have gone above and beyond to restore access to the community up there as quickly as possible and this has been greatly appreciated by the locals and the client.

Despite the challenges, things are now progressing well, and the team is confident of delivering three quality bridges for Byron Shire Council with best environmental and safety practice, on time and on budget.
