Airport Link – Northern Busway

Project Overview

The $4.8 billion Airport Link Project comprised the concurrent construction of three major infrastructure projects in Brisbane’s north, including the Airport Roundabout Upgrade and Northern Busway.

The old airport roundabout was replaced by a 750 metre flyover and fast-diamond intersection, and a 6.7 kilometre mainly underground toll road was constructed to increase the efficiency of the flow of vehicular traffic in the region. At the time of construction, the overall Airport Link was Australia’s largest ever road infrastructure project.

Project Description

Quickway was contracted to carry out work on the Northern Busway section of the Airport Link project. The three kilometre Northern Busway featured eight new bus stops, two architecturally-designed busway stations, and 1.5 kilometres of busway tunnel between the suburbs of Windsor and Kedron.
