CRN Urunga Overbridge Replacement

Project Overview

The Country Regional Network (CRN) involved the maintenance and upgrading of 2,700 km of operational freight and passenger lines and 3,100 km of non-operational lines throughout NSW.
The CRN scope included construction or replacement of 600 existing rail under bridges and 384 road bridges and associated works.

The Urunga project involved the construction of new bridge over ARTC railway track on Hungry Head Rd, Urunga. The scope of works included demolition of existing bridge and construction of new bridge over rail line.

This introduced numerous hazards that needed to be controlled. A Protection Officer was required on site at all times to protect rail traffic from all construction activities. Quickway were required to work closely with John Holland, CRN, and ARTC to ensure all required management documentation and HSEQ documentation were in place for a safe work environment.

Excavation, abutment construction, deck construction and approach road works were carried out by Quickway.
