Project Overview

The project involved the construction of a bridge over HW10 approximately 600m south of the existing Sancrox.

This project formed part of the HW10 Pacific Highway Upgrade, Oxley Highway to Kempsey.

Project Description

Quickway were contracted to:

  • Construct in-situ abutments & middle pier
  • Install pre-tensioned Super-T girders including temporary propping
  • Install deck including all ancillaries
  • Install precast parapets and in-situ stitch
  • Ensure all elements complied to B80 specifications
  • Pour concrete to RMS specifications

Type of Superstructure: Super T girders with in-situ topping slab

Type of Substructure: In-situ footings

Key Challenges

  • Interaction with numerous trades including piling contractors
  • Working over live traffic – traffic switches, road to remain open at all times
  • Koala Sanctuary  – working within a koala protected zone and implementing a management plan and controls
  • Insulation required for curing all substructure elements to control temperature
