Project Description:
The project involved the design and construct a sewer rising main (Sewer Rising Main D) 1 km long. Given the terrain, the design had numerous air valves and scour valves along the route. Pipe size DN150
Key Challenges:
The sewer main was installed on road verge in front of residential properties. Prior consultation with the community was carried out to communicate the nature of the works and provide assurances of minimal impact to property owners.
Cobbles and rock were encountered which meant the original horizontal directional drilling (HDD) methodology required changing to open trench methodology and design changed to get the works completed.
