Project Overview
Wickham Interchange is a key transport hub where customers connect with trains, buses, taxis and light rail.
The Interchange key features include a new intermodal fully accessible Interchange, new platforms and concourse, a fully accessible pedestrian bridge over the rail corridor, new crew and staff facilities, modifications to existing roads and over bridges, rail infrastructure and stabling yard.
Project Description
Quickway were responsible for the track construction of the project which involved turnout installation, free welding, adjustment welding, plain track construction and resurfacing.
Our excellent working relationship with Laing O’Rourke assisted us in successfully delivering this important transport hub for the city of Newcastle.
The project was delivered midweek and over a few weekend possessions. During these possessions a large amount of work was completed in a very short time frame. Detailed planning and coordination with other disciplines was necessary to ensure a safe and efficient worksite.
